The Holidays

* * * * *

The Bufka Farm
M22 between Leland and Glen Arbor

I'm thinking about the upcoming holidays
and I recently realized Thanksgiving is my most favorite.
No expectations.
No analyzing - over.analyzing
No obligations
No greed
No overspending
No moodiness
No disappointment
No stress...did you get that? No stress!

Getting together at Thanksgiving is
pure, unmitigated desire to be with family and friends
and break bread in the company of loved ones.
Sharing time and sustenance...
for me, there's nothing better...nothing.

And the Bufka Farm?
I don't know them but they own a beautiful barn
that reminded me of fall and Thanksgiving and it's
smack dab in the middle of my favorite Michigan region.

Beauty.

...and if I forget next week,
have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

....that's IT!

.
"Don't try to win over the haters. You're not
the jackass whisperer."

Do you LOVE this?
When I read it, I laughed and then I paused...
that's IT!
Stop trying so hard to win over people that just aren't willing
to engage, change and be nice and be 'won over'.

Afterall, I'm not the jackass whisperer!

This is hysterical! And eye opening!!!!!

Manon Doyle is one of my

- favorite for poetry
- favorite for words so the soul speaks
- favorite talent so the heart sings

Humbly I submit - she's awesome!

I'll share more of her art here soon.

Ulllckkhh....it's those old school feelings creeping in...

* * * * *

I don't care if it was college, high school or 4th grade.
It's time to turn in your homework and you haven't even started!
And you are getting panicky as it's crunch time
and you are going to have to cram like nobody's business
in order to "pass"!!!

That's Carol.
My friend who grew up to become a Professional Organizer.
She scares me.  She has too much energy.
She's too happy and too optimistic!

I have to meet with her again Monday;
she assigned homework two weeks ago
AND NO, I HAVEN'T STARTED!

  I guess I won't be hangin out at the circus this weekend.

A Veteran....and his Proud Daughter

* * * * *

Norm was a Gunner in World War II
and survived the slaughter on the beaches at Normandy.
He was proud to serve his country and defended his service
and this country until the day he died.

Norm is my Daddy and I too am proud of him and his service.
I thank him and all the veterans that continue to defend
the very freedom upon which this country was founded.

Thank you, Daddy.

Love, Candy

Here's the Plan, my Beloved Friend

* * * * *

Promise me when we're old and mature,
we'll stop on the street, sit a spell with our drinks in hand
and chat until we feel like moving on.

Great.  'Cuz I promise the same thing in return!!!

Life Lessons

* * * * *

"Don't tell me: show me"
My dad used to say.

"Don't shit where you eat"
Aunt Katie Salvetti was overheard saying.

"Talk doesn't cook rice"
  - Chinese Proverb

So: actions do speak louder than a bucket full of words...

and lying to me is our friendship's suicide
(especially if you do it while we share a meal)

Moving forward

C h a n g e s

This "stuff" belongs to a blogger friend, who is
also going thru changes and letting things go.

It isn't easy to decide to let "it" go,
but it's absolutely necessary to move forward.

Letting Go.
I relate.

"You must have a place to which you can go in your heart, your mind, or your house, almost everyday, where you do not owe anyone and where no one owes you--a place that simply allows for the blossoming of something new and promising."
                                            - Joseph Campbell

Looking forward...

"I believe that you're great, that there's something magnificent about you. Regardless of what has happened to you in your life, regardless of how young or how old you think you might be, the moment you begin to think properly, there's something that is within you, there's power within you, that's greater than the world. It will begin to emerge. It will take over your life. It will feed you. It will clothe you. It will guide you, protect you, and sustain your very existence, if you let it. Now, that is what I know for sure."

Fall on the Homestead

* * * * *
Let's face it - this is an awesome season.
Fall (hence leaves now on the ground!)
Colours (that can't be duplicated by man)
Smells (nothing cleaner)

Pond closed / covered with netting
Maple about to turn fire red
and the Japanese Maple....oh my...

I took enough pics of this tree that it deems me crazy
but I can hardly stand the colour explosion...

Hey - Mother Nature....can we have this for a few more weeks?

It's Part of Awakening...

* * * * *
I read once that if you love something you must let it go.
If it comes back to you, it was meant to be yours;
if not, it wasn't.
.
Or some such wisdom filled philosophical statement.
.
I was reminded recently that
life is for living.
Move on from the grief and pain.
Move on from the heartache and tears.
Let it go.

And when you do...things come alive again.
It's the best ever.
Changes happen.
Renewed energy. Renewed faith. Renewed love.
Sure, some things from the past rear their heads
and for a moment, silent grieving ensues.
But it's over quickly. Like a withdrawal.
Big deep breath.
Let it go.
Move on.
Get back to living.
It's wonderful
