Macro and Distance

* * * * *
Let's understand something - you and I:
I LOVE good photography.
I, however, am not a good photographer.
and that "on-line" class can't start soon enough,
as far as I'm concerned.

But for the time being, here's macro:

columbine in macro

dandelion in macro

larry's fish reflecting bench - distance
(note purple wisteria fall-out)

trillium

hosta/macro
boring, to say the least

I agree - I need...lessons.
Isn't it nice that you and I agree
BEFORE the weekend ensues?

On a Wire

* * * * *

"Add things that have to do with an extended family, coupled with everything else going on — oil spill, flooding in Tennessee, Icelandic Volcano, earthquakes, racist laws in Arizona,
puppy mills, Michigan economy, etc. —
is it me or is the world coming to an end?
So, a moment to get down to basics.
Two birds outside my window.
Minute by minute."

From Profuse to Debris

* * * * *
A couple posts back - and even on facebook
I was pounding my chest over my nearly full bloom'd wisteria
then poof! It exploded.
What a show - with the help of Mother Nature
and a little sun.
Magnifico!

Then: the Weekend Presentation:
Storms
Rain

Those blossoms beneath the pergola
were somewhat protected and remain intact

but those atop...exposed to the elements

meaning...The Wind:

Debris!
Purple Popcorn covers my Patio

Whaaaaa!
There are a few remaining blossoms to make
the incredible scent last a little longer...
...and the concrete smells quite nice too.

Onto the annuals and upcoming perrens.....

I wonder if I could make potpourri out of this fallen mess...together
with ants, rollie-pollies and other insects...
ok: nah.

A Moment in Time - Global Photography Project

* * * * *
Well..did you listen to me
and take a picture of SOMETHING at 15:00 U.T.C.
on Sunday????

From the LENS of the New York Times:

"Attention: everyone with a camera, amateur or pro. Please join us on Sunday, May 2, at 15:00 (U.T.C./G.M.T.), as thousands of photographers simultaneously record “A Moment in Time.” The idea is to create an international mosaic, an astonishingly varied gallery of images that are cemented together by the common element of time."

Yes, at 11:00 a.m. where I am in Michigan,
I took snaps of many things
and then quickly had to decide which
ONE PICTURE to upload.

If you're on facebook, the pics started showing up on the Wall of
A Moment in Time.

Next week, we will see pictures from all over the world;

"The interactive gallery that will appear next week takes the form of a globe on which you can find your location, or those of other photographers. It was designed by Zach Wise of The Times and is, to use highly technical professional vernacular, too cool for school."

It was fun to be a part of the project.

136th Running of the Kentucky Derby

* * * * *

Awesome

Thrilling

Suspenseful

Rewarding,
even if you didn't place a wager

...and Relief
that all participants, equine and human,
got safely to the finish line...

...but as an owner of (now retired) race horses,
(racing in the northern part of the country and Canada)
I can tell you not once did any of us girlies - or guys-
ever feel even slightly compelled
to wear a hat.

Yet if I had the pleasure of attending the Derby,
it would be the first thing I would run out and buy.

I'm sure I could find - with a little research - the connection...
...and why it matters so;
but it does.
